Best of 2024 Contest Winners

We're happy to announce the winners of our Best of 2024 photo contest! We'd like to thank everyone for participating and sharing their amazing photos with us. It was very, very difficult to choose the winners!

1st Place - Baby Verreaux's Sifaka by Jason Robertson

This photo immediately catches the eye. Of all the photos we reviewed, this one clearly stood out from the moment we laid eyes on it, thanks to the expression, the depth, and the composition. Jason wins a $150 cash prize plus a Platypod Extreme camera base, which provides study ground-level support allowing for creative photography from unusual angles. 

2nd Place - "Friday Night Lights" by Charles L. Derus

This is a magical photo with great framing that naturally leads the eye to the northern lights. Charles wins a $100 cash prize plus a super fast Delkin Devices 325GB Black CFexpress memory card and reader.

3rd Place - Cinematic Heron by Christopher Baker

A great photo makes you think about the story behind it, and this image is an amazing example of that thanks to its cinematic and dynamic look. Christopher wins a $50 cash prize plus a $100 gift card from Hunt's Photo & Video. Hunt’s customer support team is awesome, and they have all the gear and accessories that you need to elevate your photography.

Honorable Mention - "Sunny Bumblebee" by Ginnie Lodge

The shadow of the bee on one of the petals is a lovely detail that adds depth to this photograph. The falling bits of pollen and the pleasant color harmony make this photo look very appealing.

Honorable Mention - "Keyhole in the Pier" by Kevin La Rue

The symmetrical composition and colors work together harmoniously to create a serene image.

Honorable Mention - "Road Block" by Bill Tucker

This is a unique moment that must have been amazing to witness!

Honorable Mention - "Home" by Sara Oberlander

The child's pose tells a great story, and it's also visually dynamic.

Honorable Mention - "Demonic" by Colleen Parker

This photo captures a moment that creates the expectation of movement because you're waiting for the wave to fall. That helps create the illusion of motion in the final photo, which is very compelling.

Honorable Mention - "Into the Mystic" by Rajani Ramanathan

This is a breathtaking photo that immediately draws you in thanks to all the fog and golden light.

Honorable Mention - "Steep Dreams" by Charles Fortin

This photo was "shot at night in avalanche-prone terrain", which makes it all the more impressive. The negative space adds depth to the scene and makes you wonder about the story behind the subject.

Honorable Mention - "Jellyfish Under Pier" by Wayne Angeloty

This is a beautiful and abstract piece that immediately catches your eye because of the dynamic colors and shapes. The cool color palette works really well in this composition.

Honorable Mention - "Sunrise at the Liwa Dunes" by Isabel Guerra Clark

Thanks to the movement and candid feeling of this shot, there's a lot of "life" in this photo.

Honorable Mention - "At The Gate Of The Sky" by Art David

The comet tells a story about the scene, and the color change from dark blue to bright orange is very appealing. Together, these elements work well to create a compelling and vibrant photo.
